START WITH YOUR EXPORT
A few minutes to a clearer bill.
- Open AWS Cost Explorer.
- Select two consecutive complete months, ideally the last two. Set Monthly granularity.
- Group by Service. Choose Amortized Cost or Net Amortized Cost when appropriate, and USD.
- Download CSV. Optionally download a second file grouped by Usage Type with identical dates, filters, currency, and metric.
- Verify your email, then upload. Review recommendations before making changes.
Supported formats & privacy
USD monthly Cost Explorer downloads: dates in rows (YYYY-MM-01), service or usage types in columns ending in ($), with optional totals. Exactly two consecutive complete months. UTF-8 CSV, up to 5 MB each. CUR, daily exports, usage quantities, and other currencies are unsupported.
Normalized format: Month,Service,Cost,Unit (or Month,UsageType,Cost,Unit for the optional file). Unit must be USD.
Files are stored privately. Raw CSVs expire after 7 days; reports and report access expire after 30 days from upload. You can delete earlier. Verified email access lasts 7 days and can be renewed. Uploaded data is not sent to an AI model.
Remove account identifiers and unnecessary sensitive fields before uploading. The selected metric cannot always be verified from the CSV.
Free clarity. A paid action plan.
Free includes your spending breakdown, monthly changes, and one recommendation. The $29 one-time Pro report adds all supported recommendations, billing evidence, remediation instructions, and a downloadable PDF. It does not guarantee savings.
