Rightsizing

Rightsizing is matching an instance or resource to the smallest size that still meets its performance needs, eliminating the cost of overprovisioned capacity.

Rightsizing analyzes actual utilization (CPU, memory, network, IOPS) over time and recommends a smaller or more appropriate instance type when a resource is consistently underused. Because cloud pricing is roughly linear with size, dropping one tier often cuts that resource's cost by ~50%.

It is one of the highest-leverage, lowest-risk cost optimizations because it usually requires only a resize, not an architecture change.
