Committed use discount

Also known as: CUD

A committed use discount is Google Cloud's equivalent of reserved pricing — a 1- or 3-year commitment to a level of resource usage in return for a lower rate.

Google Cloud offers resource-based CUDs (commit to specific vCPU and memory in a region) and spend-based CUDs (commit to an hourly spend on eligible services). Discounts commonly reach around 55–70% depending on term and commitment type.

Like AWS Savings Plans and Azure Reserved VM Instances, CUDs reward predictable baseline usage; they are wasted if committed capacity goes unused.
